Although I don't know what the code looks like, my gut tells me that the "starting Windows" hang is due to code trying to initialize my 003 as an ASIO audio device. I think Avid should have it's programmers work on this until it's fixed.

I could go out and buy a new PC, but I'm not confident that my 003 will work right with PT9. How long do I need to wait to get running? All of this is a huge disclaimer and I'm betting they have problems even with the few PCs that PT9 is supported on. So now, I have $550 tied up in PT9 and the virtual instrument package and $125 for Win7 that I can't use. Thanks for your continued patience with this issue. For now you should continue to run 8,x under XP or Vista. There is no way that I can speculate on a possible solution but I know that we are aware of the issue and hoping to resolve it in an upcoming update if possible. We have seen other reports of similar behavior on other unsupported systems that we have not qualified and are looking into it. It is not the age of your PC it is the fact that we have not qualified this particualr system.
